AUTOMATED ELECTROSPRAY APPARATUS

EXPERIMENTAL HARDWARE · AUTOMATION · DROPLET DIAGNOSTICS

An electrospray apparatus in the Stanford NanoEnergy Lab. I took ownership of the physical system and automation components, bringing together positioning, pump control, and high speed imaging. The apparatus has successfully produced electrospray.

SCALE 2:1

PROBLEM. Characterizing electrospray across operating parameters requires an apparatus that can set conditions, capture droplet behavior, and preserve the connection between each recording and its experimental configuration.

APPROACH. Built the physical apparatus and automation components. Current integration work connects motorized positioning, pump control, and camera acquisition with linked experiment records, cloud infrastructure, and an AI model.

STATUS. Successful electrospray has been demonstrated. Cloud and AI integration remain in progress. The longer-term goals are systematic electrospray characterization and benchmarking AI understanding of physical experiments.
